I took this picture when we were flying to Los Angeles back in July. I love the colours, the brightness of the sky above the clouds and the way that this picture takes me back to that time of excitement and anticipation – a long awaited trip home. I think what I love most about this picture though, is the way it reminds me of the need to see beyond what is in front of me and to remember that there is peace above.
Like most people, my day is made up of minor details and minor stresses. If I am not careful, I can spend most of my time thinking and worrying about things that really don’t matter at all. This simple picture reminds me that above all of the stresses and strains of life – there is always peace to be found. It reminds me of the importance of perspective, that what can seem grey and gloomy may look better or even just different from further up or further out.
Sometimes when I stop and switch off from the noise and whirling activity around me, I think I find that same peace in the stillness. In such precious moments I can put aside the stresses and strains, the niggles and the worries and just focus on being in the moment, feeling sure that the little things really don’t matter and will soon be forgotten. For the gift of this perspective, I am truly grateful as it sustain me when I feel lost and uncertain and gives me hope that I can rise above the clouds and find peace.
